Natashia Kelly loves natural things

Salon Bugrane, Brussels, Sunday, December 8, 2024, 4 p.m.

She captivated us last year, Natashia Kelly, with her second album, Dear Darkening Ground (WERF). First, there is the original voice, slightly veiled, fragile, as if balanced on a wire.

Then there are the songs, pop, jazz, and folk, with clear lyrics rooted in our time. Jazz music, minimalist, without excessive ornamentation.

« I love simple, natural things. I want the music to reflect the very essence of my songs, » she told us then.

Her songs? « I try to capture the spirit of the times. Dramatic times with climate change, floods, the war in Ukraine… but I keep an element of hope in my pieces. »

In the Salon Bugrane, in Laeken, Natashia’s music will be intimate and atmospheric. With the two guitarists Tim Finoulst and William Heylen on guitars, and her accomplice Yannick Peeters on double bass. ’’
