The harpsichord
This instrument, which combines keyboard and plucked strings, has inspired illustrious composers such as Jean-Sébastien Bach, François Couperin, and many others, who have given it unparalleled notoriety in Europe.
However, since the end of the 18th century, it has experienced a slow decline with the arrival of the fortepiano and then the piano, which eventually dethroned it with composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Liszt, Rachmaninov, and many other immensely popular performers on international stages…
The harpsichord requires a particular subtlety related to its baroque repertoire, a quasi-philosophical reflection on its technical and musical evolution. It is now regaining an ever-increasing interest, especially for its magnificent dances.
Discover it with the young harpsichordist Veera Voordeckers.
