Trio Spilliaert – Piano – Violin – Cello – Haydn – de Taeye – Franck

For eleven years, the Trio Spilliaert has proudly championed Belgium’s musical heritage. Founded as a tribute to the painter Léon Spilliaert (1881–1946), the ensemble has made it its mission to revive unjustly forgotten Belgian composers by revealing the richness and refinement of their works.
The programme highlights two major figures of the repertoire, Joseph Haydn and César Franck, while also featuring a delightful piece: the Five Miniatures by Alex de Taeye.
A composer, conductor, and director of the Royal Conservatory of Mons, Alex de Taeye was a prominent figure in Belgian musical life. He passed away prematurely at the age of 53, the day after a memorable concert in which he conducted an opera by Wagner.
